Gingerbread Decorating

The Gr. 5s celebrated the end of first term with a Christmas Party, complete with music, food and of course gingerbread decorating.

Some students were very creative and really layered on the fixings, making for a very heavy gingerbread!

Merry Christmas!

James and the Giant Peach at YPT

The Gr. 5s went to see the theatrical production of James and the Giant Peach at the Young People's Theatre on Front Street.

It was a poignant, yet very humorous musical production with interesting characters.

Afterwards, the Gr. 5s explored BCE place and got a history lesson on the St. Lawrence Market. It was a very nice way to end the year before the Christmas holidays.

Student Vote

On Oct. 27th, the day of the Municipal Elections, the Gr. 5 class held their own vote for who they thought should be mayor based on three main issues:  commitment to improving transit, creating more green space for parks, and for having more community centres for children to play.

The students each had an official voting card with all the candidates. After the school election, the votes were tallied.

John Mayor won by a landslide, as did Catholic School Trustee, Joanne Davis.

The kids were super excited about voting, especially when they learned how important it was to have a voice in government.
